Remembering Anne Gwaltney

“I feel bless to have meet Ann at the conference in May.  She was very knowledgeable about the industry and a joy to learn from.  Everyone is going to miss her greatly.  I will be praying for her family.”

“Every time I saw Anne she was always energetic and full of enthusiasm when it came to assisting clients with homeownership. She kept me laughing I always looked forward to seeing her at the conferences whenever I was able to attend. She will be deeply missed. “

“Anne Gwaltney was greater than life, sent like an angel to carry out seemingly so perfect, her life's work.  Her passion and ambition is what we should all aspire to.  She was such an astounding woman.  We are blessed to have had her in our presence. She will be greatly missed.”

Jill Simmons

“Anne you touched my life along with many others and I Thank You!! Your Strength and Devotion I will always remember! The many laughs we shared and words of wisdom will be cherished.  You will be missed always by all of whom you shared your days.  I will think of you while carrying on your passion in housing counseling.  Always and true,”

“I will really miss her! She was a very competent teacher, one of the best I've met. Very Passionate and loved the profession! “

Reginald Mebane

“God saw you were getting tired and a Cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come with Me." With tear filled eyes we watched you suffer and fade away. Although we loved you deeply, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts To prove to us, He only takes The Best. (anon”)

Shelly Murphy

“I will always remember Anne's strength and humor. Although I have only known her for a few years, her love and care for people was obvious and commendable. Thank you Anne, for all the lessons in homeownership and all the counseling lessons you gave me that a book could never teach. I can still see you flying by on your scooter. My heart goes out to your son, whom I know you loved dearly because you spoke of him often, with a smile of a mother's love. You will truly be miss and I will never forget you. You now have sweet peace.”

“We at Welcome Home send our prayers to the family and friends of Anne Gwaltney.  Our favorite memory of Anne is of her bantering with Kelly during training sessions.  The two of them were a great team and always made us laugh.  She set an example for us all to follow our passion and let nothing stop us from achieving our goals.  It is with great sadness that we have lost such a brave pioneer in the affordable housing efforts.  Although we already know she is helping the Lord develop affordable housing programs in heaven.

Anne, you will be missed.”

Angela Koncz

“I will miss Anne's smile and jokes, but mostly her commitment and dedication. I know she is looking at us and saying "I told you."

Brenda Holden

“Anne will be missed.”

“I was truly saddened by her passion.   I remember Anne as full l of life, love and most of all LAUGHTER!   She could really put a smile on your face if you were not having the best of days.  And who could forget the "Cell Penalty joke"; Hilarious!    She shall be missed. “

Marisol Ortiz

“This is a very sad news.  She was a hard working and a nice lady.”

Moses K. Kerkula

“Anne provided housing training.  She was so funny and passionate about her work.  She would take off her oxygen, move around a bit, and sit back down.  Then, she would make a joke about it.  She is truly an inspiration to all of us because despite what she was facing or feelings, she kept on smiling and living life!!!”

Kathlene Gentry

“I am shocked and greatly saddened at the loss of a very special lady.  I will always remember Ann's love and commitment to homeownership education and housing counseling.  It won't be the same without her at the VA Association of Housing Counselors convention in the spring.  I will miss her wisdom, sense of humor, and laughter. “

Julia Haynes

“I have been a Housing Counselor for almost 16 years now.  I met Anne many years ago.  I looked forward to the annual conference because I always liked seeing and talking to Anne.  When we would see each other she would always smile, say hello and give me a big hug.  I really liked and respected Anne.  I am very sorry she is no longer with us in body, but her spirit will live on in all of us that knew her.  The conferences will never be the same.  We have all lost a friend and I miss her greatly.  I wish I had to opportunity to say goodbye in public, but I will say goodbye in private.  I DO MISS YOU ANNE!”
